Every record is verified against the program's own published pages and stamped with the date checked. "Not stated" means the program's pages say nothing about funding, and it is the most common answer. It is not a statement that the position is unpaid. It means the page does not answer the question. Where a program funds Canadian fellows but requires international fellows to secure external funding, it is counted as mixed, because this directory is built for internationally trained physicians. Verification is ongoing, and because this page reads the directory live, its numbers move as coverage deepens. Some records are confirmed from a university's own remuneration policy rather than from the individual program page. The University of Toronto is the only school verified that way so far: its postgraduate office requires every clinical fellow to be paid at or above the PGY3 rate and does not accept unpaid or self-funded arrangements, with an exception for sponsored trainees from countries holding a formal training agreement. Those records say so and carry the policy link. An institutional rule is not a per-program promise, so confirm the amount with the program, and nothing here should be read as describing another university or Canada as a whole.
