

Hi! I’m Dr. Filipe Nadir Caparica Santos

Personal Story
Dr. Santos started his medical journey in 2003, as a medical student at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He completed his medical school, residency training and PhD in Pharmacology at the same institution.
Since arriving in Canada in 2017, Dr. Filipe Santos has been a dynamic force within Canada’s healthcare community. His quest for excellence brought him to the University of Toronto in 2017, where he completed a 2-year clinical fellowship program in Anesthesiology and Medical Education. He then complemented his training in the field of healthcare education by pursuing a Master of Science in Community Health (Health Practitioner Teacher Education), obtained in 2020, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, at the University of Toronto.
Currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Simulation Lead at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine of the University of Toronto since 2019, Dr. Santos plays a crucial role in the development of healthcare professionals. His dedication is reflected in his efforts improve how learners receive feedback, how faculty provides feedback, and the transition of international medical graduates (IMG) to fellowship Solution and to independent practice in Canada.
Another area of expertise of Dr. Santos is in Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management and using high-fidelity simulation scenarios as a medical education tool to teach non-technical skills to physicians.
